Eden Haythornthwaite is running as an independent socialist for Cowichan in the 2024 provincial election.

We must prepare to meet the needs of the working majority by demanding genuine democracy and thoughtful, rigorous economic planning while securing our freedoms.

Don’t waste your vote on the right-wing parties!

The Issues

  • Demand the essentials of life.

Let’s prioritize affordable public housing and regulate food, transportation and telecommunication prices to stop corporate gouging of working people. Create more vacation time for all by enacting a yearly 8-week paid holiday.

  • End the Climate Crisis.

Time to put people and the planet before profits. End wasteful corporate mega-projects like Site C. Establish public democratic management of energy and natural resources to fight ecocide and climate change catastrophe through the creation of thousands of beneficial jobs.

  • Liberate all from injustice.

We deserve the right to full employment based on meaningful work, good wages, and safe working conditions. Self-determination and reparations for Indigenous peoples must be at the heart of democratic reform.

  • Stop the War Machine.

We must redirect all aggressive military spending towards public needs and make Canada an anti-war country through the development of a peaceful civil defence force to fight disaster and pandemic.

  • Tax the rich.

Democratic public finances require an end to corporate welfare, privatized services and regressive taxation. Replace the HST with windfall profits and wealth taxes in BC.

Why we need an independent SOCIALIST in the provincial legislature

After decades of inaction and the status quo, workers are tired and disillusioned with the state of politics in British Columbia (and Canada as a whole). Although we have been made to believe that true change is slow and unlikely, we know that change can happen through the power of the working class.

Electing an independent socialist into the BC Legislature will strengthen the political dialogue and inspire change in the oppressive landscape of late-stage capitalism.
